The Events Committee is composed of the chairs of the Luncheon and Special Events, the Pre-retirement Seminar, the Seminar, and the Travel committees. The committee's main goal is to ensure that ASURA has a slate of interesting activities throughout the year, trying to not overload any month / week.
Chair duties
- Prepare a calendar of events for the upcoming year in time for publication in the summer edition of Prime Times (see Prime Times Calendar for dates). The calendar is prepared in consultation with the chairs of Travel, Seminar, Retirees Day, and Pre-retirement seminar events The material on the right lists the "standard" committee events with a description and the typical date and time.
- Be the point of contact for the chairs of the various event committees when they have questions and work with them to solve any problems that crop up. The chair may ask that some/all WA questions be directed to an appropriate technology support person.
- Be the point of contact for Affiliated events. These are primarily ASU events that the members might be interested in. WA webpages are created for these events but there are no announcements and no registration. Two of the common posting have been are the ASU Book Group and events by the Emeritus College.
- Arrange for the Wild Apricot training that new event chairs may need / want. The chair may do the training or arrange for someone else. Download some sample training exercises.
- Facilitate the posting and managing of ASURA Events. This work may be done by the chair or by a designee. See Event tasks for details on how to do a number of event related tasks..
- Review ASURA Web page and request changes to the homepage when old events need to be removed and new events added.
- Facilitate the collection and posting of event stories and pictures for use in Prime Times and the Event Reports in the Events menu of the ASURA website. See Add-edit event report for help on completing this task.

Affiliated events are events offered by groups that are affiliated with ASURA through being part of ASU or by groups that are focused on life-long learning. No announcements are sent, although they are listed in the Events section of E-News; ASURA does no registration. This means the only step is the creation of the webpage, the first step in the creation of a WA event.
