The ASURA  bylaws provide for the appointment of individuals to honorary status through a majority vote, for an indefinite or a fixed term. Honorary members do not pay dues, and therefore do not vote.

The category of "Honorary" is also used in the ASURA membership database for people who are not members of ASURA but who are approved to receive various ASURA communications.

Both types of honorary contacts appear in this list, along with information about which communications they or the Board wants them to receive.

The list is reviewed each September by the Executive Committee. If there are changes, they are recorded here, and also presented to the Board of Directors for comment.

You can print this table by copying it and pasting it into a landscape-oriented MS Word document.

Changes made to this list are implemented by making changes in the membership database:

  • If a person no longer has a role with ASURA, delete them from the database.
  • If a person is no longer an honorary contact, but IS a regular member, don't delete them. The person processing their enrollment form will make necessary changes to membership level and communication preferences.
  • If a new person is being added, add them to the member database:
    • Membership level:  Honorary.
    • Renewal date: blank
    • If available, include mailing address, email, phone, department. You must have a mailing address for Prime Times, and you must have an email address for events and E-News. For liaisons with ASU organizations, you may be able to find contact information in the ASU directory. If you can't find the information, try phoning the person or group.
    • Member since: the date they first had a role in ASURA (for most, the automatically assigned date is fine).
    • Notes: Add a note that provides the reason for the honorary status and the date the status was assigned. Access Notes from the person's "Contact details" tab, then the Edit button next to "Internal use" on the right side.
  • To change the communications for a person or group:
    • Click on the Membership tab in the person's record, then on the Edit button that is below the tab.
    • Check the appropriate boxes in the "I want to receive" section and click on the Save button.
    • Click on the "Email settings and log" tab in the person's record. Click on the "Edit" button below the tab. Review the settings:
      • If a person is set to receive any email communications make sure "email preferences" is sent to "send emails per settings below", and that the appropriate selections are made. Note that email blasts must be checked for E-News.
      • If a person is set to receive Prime Times and no event announcements or E-News, click on "Disable ALL emails".

If you have administrative or editing privileges on this ASURA-Vol website, you can update this table:

  1. Review instructions for editing a basic page.
  2. Once you are in the "Configure block" area for the table, you can simply overtype any information with the updated information.
  3. If you need to add or delete a row, place your cursor in the table where you want to make the change and right-click. Choose the option you want from the menu that pops up.
  4. Click on the blue "update" button at the bottom of the "Configure block" area.
  5. Click on the maroon "Save layout" button at the bottom of the window.
