Pre-retirement Seminars

The Pre-retirement Seminar committee plans and executes a series of one hour seminars for those planning on retiring

The charge to the Pre-retirement Seminar Committee is to offer informative sessions to ASU employees who are thinking about or getting ready to retire about preparing for retirement. The seminars are also offered to ASURA members.

The seminars cover information not generally supplied by HR in their retirement workshops.  The one hours sessions are offered virtually at noon, generally by someone from an appropriate agency and office.

The committee responsibilities are:

  1. Set the calendar of presentations. Typically this has been a six month calendar. Past sessions have included avoiding the Medicare confusion, how to stop fighting about money, celebrating our future after ASU.
  2. Find and book-in presenters
  3. Advertise the seminar
    1. Arrange for advertising to ASU employees (needs some details)
    2. Arrange to have a WA announcement1 sent out one week before the event and announcement2 sent out the day before the announcement with the Zoom address. There is no registration required. See Event process for help on creating a WA webpage and announcements 1 and 2.
    3. Arrange to have the seminar posted on the ASURA Home page.
  4. Arrange to have the video of the seminar, if the presenters permit, sent to the person designated by the Website committee chair for posting on the Website. See the accordion panel called "Content Volunteers" for the name of that person.
