Open the form
- Log in to the public ASURA website using your ASURITE credentials.
- Click on the "Content" button near the top left. If you don't see that button, click on ""Manage" and then the menu that has Content should appear.
- Click on the blue +Add content button at the top of the page that lists content. Select "Volunteer Bio".
Fill in the form
- Put the name of the volunteer in the Title -- use just first and last name. Use the name by which they are known as opposed to a formal name, e.g. "Dave Schwalm", not "David Schwalm".
- In the "Vol Bio Name" box, overwrite "Volunteer Name" with the same name as you used in the title. If you accidentally delete the "Full Name", just enter the name of the member and then in the "Format" pull-down for that box, choose Heading 1.
- In the Vol Bio ASURA Role, overwrite the text with the role(s) the person had at ASURA and when. When entering years, use YYYY-YY, unless of course the years span a century. You can go to a new line by using shift-return (don't use return or the spacing will be wrong). You should not use capital letters when listing roles, expect for formal titles such as Immediate Past President. Don't capitalize "chair", or "member" in "Board member" for example.
- Copy the text from what a new volunteer has submitted into the "Vol Bio Text" box. If you get a popup about pasting from Word or similar, choose the "yes" (I want to clean it up) option. You can further clean it up by highlighting the text and using the Tx (remove formatting) icon of the text editor.
- In the "Vol Bio updated box" enter "submitted" or "updated" and then the approximate date, if known, e.g. "Submitted January 2000", "Updated Fall 2007". No need to enter dates more specific than that.
- Skip this step if you don't have a photo of the volunteer. If you do have a photo, click on the "Add media" button. In the window that pops up:
- Click on "Images"
- Click on the "Choose File" button and avigate to and select the member photo from your computer.
- In the window that pops up showing the picture, enter the first and last name in the Name and Alternative text fields
- In the Directory pull-down, select Volunteer Bio Photos.
- Leave Caption blank and click on the red "Save and insert" button.
- If the current volunteer is chair of one of the ASURA committees, enter the name of the committee in the box for "Chair of Committee". Start typing the name of the committee and the full name should appear -- click on that. If the person is chair of more than one committee, use the other boxes for the other committee names. If the person is NOT a committee chair, make sure the Chair of Committee boxes are empty.
- Click on the blue "Save" button at the bottom. You should see your bio page, looking great! If you see something wrong, click on the "Edit a volunteer bio" tab and proceed..
- Follow steps 1 and 2 for "Add a volunteer bio", above.
- Locate the bio you want to edit in the list of content. You can do this by using the Search box on the website all-time volunteers page.
- When you have the bio you want, click on the "Edit" button, between "View" and "Delete", at the top. This will bring up the form that you completed when you added the obituary.
